Golden Stonefly Wired Body Nymph

Golden Stonefly Wired Body Nymph

Although we love tying and fishing all of our nymphs as soft hackles we know there are plenty of other great patterns we like to pull out of our box.  This pattern is definitely one of them.  Stonefly nymphs are a big part of fish food source year round as the nymphs are tumbling down the stream looking for another rock to hide under.  These insects provide a good size meal and not much work to get it.  If you are struggling picking up fish have some of these in your box to switch up your luck and start bringing fish to the net.

These are fished on a dead drift, but don't discount the effectiveness of picking fish off at the tail end as they begin the swing to the surface.  These can be fished under and indicator, on a traditional dead drift, or even with your Euro tight line technique.  Which ever way you choose is sure to bring a smile to your face.
