What Would You Like To Know/ Open Question Answer

So one thing I really want to be able to do is connect with people on a personal level.  This at times can be a difficult thing to do, but something I’m constantly working on.  An idea that came to me was to do a question and answer with all of our customers, so you can get to know me, what motivates me, and or anything about what I’m looking at when making leaders and lines.  Hopefully this helps you get to know me both personally and profesionally.  Let’s see what everyone wants to know.  Simply ask your question in the comments section so everyone can see it and I will answer it.  Ready set go and ask away!

When was the first time you used a furled leader? And when or what made you decide to start a company that involved them?

That’s a great question! The first time I used a furled leaders was eight or nine years ago. I was refered to them by a friend of mine. I haven’t used a regular tapered leader since. Now the second part of this question. It first started out with a dream of owning my own fly shop, of which I am still working on. Part of the reason for this was because of the way fly fishing was able to allow me to connect with my deceased Grandpa Auger. He had such a passion for the outdoors as I do, and I wanted help share his legacy and our passion with others. To begin with I started out thinking of tying flies and starting out that way. I was then able to finally learn how to furl my own leaders! After working on learning how to furl my own, and finally achieving a desired leader I gave some away to friends. They loved them! Knowing what I was working on they told me I should just focus on the leaders rather than the flies to get started. So here I am with my own fly fishing company! I wish to offer a wide variety of products to go with my furled leaders and lines. I believe in the near future, hopefully next year, there will be more items for people to choose from and match with our awsome leaders and lines!

I have two of the travel type Kiyotaki rods; a 24 and a 27 in the 9 foot range. I need to know whether the lightweight and or the Depuy furled leaders would ok or too heavy for these rods. It asks for weight so I am wondering if that has to do with standard fly rods or the tippet that will be used Thanks, Tom

Tom thanks for the question. The Furled Leaders are for traditional fly rods, and is why it asks for the rod weight. In our Tenkara Lines The ultra light/light are for your softer rods and medium/heavy for faster rods. I would recommend the 9 foot for those lengths, our of you want shorter I can do custom order.

Oh my bad I guess. All of the leaders come 6ft long. This allows you to add tippet of 18in for a 7 /2ft leader all the way to 6ft for a 12ft leader. If there is a different length desired I can do a custom order. Simply email the specifics of what you need.
