Twisted-Foam Technique Credit
The twisted-foam technique featured in this pattern was developed by Robert Williamson, who began twisting thin strips of sheet foam during the mid-1990s. He first published the method in his 2002 booklet, Creative Flies, and later expanded upon its development and history in his 2025 booklet, Air Bugs & Twisted Foam Flies.
Robert’s original twisted-foam hopper inspired a family of stoneflies, caddis, damselflies, cicadas and beetles. The Backcountry Halo October Caddis is Brandon Moon’s interpretation of Robert’s innovative technique within the Moonlit Backcountry Halo pattern family.
