Savage Flies video review of the V2 fly vise

Fly tying vise jaws hardened steel

Strong Durable Jaws
The vise jaws are made of a hardened tool steel that will last the long run and hold hooks tight.

Fully Adjustable For A Wide Range Of Hook Sizes
The hook size adjustment knob on the front of the jaws allows you to go from holding very small hooks down in the 20s to hooks up in the 2/0 size (or bigger) with a few turns.

The hook lever at the back side of the jaws tightens the jaws down very tight on the hook so it won't move.

Smooth Rotary Bearing System With Fully Adjustable Tension
The quality bearing system on this vise makes the rotary motion very smooth for excellent performance.

The adjustable knob on the side of the vise controls the tension on the rotary motion on the vise. You can go from no free spinning, to light tension for more control, to tight tension for moving the vise to different anglers for easier tying.

Rotary vise handle

Easy-to-Use Rotary Handle Gives You More Control
Many vises don't have a full handle for rotating the vise but the NIRVANA rotary vise does! We feel like this feature is a big deal and it is something that most everyone mentions they love when you first use this vise. This gives you smother control when rotating the vise to wrap wire, ribbing, dubbing, or other materials. We promise you will love this handle if you use the rotary function often.

Lots Of Open Space To Work With Materials
The large "V" shape of the vise arm and the jaws leaves you with a big open space behind the hook to work with materials with nothing in the way.

Fly Vise Material Clip

Material Clip (removable)
The material clip adds a spring to put your materials through to keep them out of the way until you need them. This is especially nice for body material, ribbing & wire, or streamer materials.

Adjustable Arm Angle
The Arm is adjustable so you can move it up or down to easily create the best center axis for you hook when rotating the vise, for the best position for wrapping of materials.

Bobbin Rest Included
The bobbin rest is included with the vise so you can get the thread bobbin out of the way when wrapping materials, ribbing, and wire.

Premium Pedestal Base Included
The pedestal base is a larger aluminum base with grooves made in it to hold flies you've tied, beads, or hooks. The wider and thicker size of the base makes it very stable so you don't get teetering issues. The grooves help to keep everything neat and organized. The pedestal base is very portable so you can take your vise with you anywhere when traveling.

Fly Tying Vise Base

This base also has a special knob bolt that allows you to really crank it tight fully secure your vise stem so it will rotate around at all at this connection at all.

An Excellent Vise At An Even Better Price!
There are not many great rotary vises available under $160, THIS VISE FILLS THAT GAP with a lot of excellent features that work great!

Shaft Diameter
The shaft 9.8mm (about 0.386 inches).

Why is a rotary vise important to tying flies?
Using the rotary function of a vise does a few things for you.  First thing is it will speed up your tying for each individual fly.  The rotary creates more uniform and better proportions.  Proportions in tying is vitally important.  The fact that this is a center axis makes an even bigger impact.  This can be more easily seen when wrapping wire bodies.  Wrapping wire bodies is a dream and breeze with this center axis.

Happy with my purchase.

I've been tying for a little over 10 years. I've tied for local shops in the past and have a big name vise at home in my tying room. I've owned several of the big name vise models in the past as well. I wanted another vise to keep at my work office for quick tying sessions on my lunch break and I wanted all the features of my top tier vise but did not want to pay the top tier cost. I came across the first version of this vise on a social media post and quickly came to do my research. It had everything I was looking for in terms of features and functions as well as some extra perks like metal screws and fittings that rarely come on budget vises. Another big selling point for me was the fact that the rotary shaft was supported by actual ball bearings and not just a shaft in a smooth metal cylinder housing. I'm not sure I've ever seen this feature offered on even a mid level big name vise let alone a budget minded one. I also loved the colors and eventually settled on the olive green model. Upon receipt of the vise and the first tie I was pretty happy with the jaw set. Almost identical to my big name vise. Another selling point for me. The jaws hold hooks very securely with no slipping. There is also a machined groove to assist with larger hooks. One thing I did end up doing, and keep in mind, I've had to do this to EVERY vise I've ever owned, was oil the jaw cam assembly and the jaw tension ****. They were pretty dry out of the box and adding a little bit of oil lets things work a lot smoother and easier. Another minor issue I ran into was the rotary shaft tension **** was sticky and uneven out of the box. Again, I dealt with this issue on another much more expensive vise and the fix is pretty easy. A couple drops of oil in the **** thread housing and tensioning the **** down tightly. With this method, and use, eventually the little plastic bushing on the end of the **** will conform to the rotary shaft and everything will work itself out. After one afternoon of tying, it is now smooth as butter regardless of whatever tension I want. If I could change one thing, I would make the pedestal base heavier. its a little light. I see there is a heavy steel base option available for purchase which I may try. Overall for me, its not a deal breaker. The stem support is good quality and holds the vise solid. For 90% of what I do, this vise exceeds my expectations. I've tied on hooks down to 20 and up to size 1. The only thing I haven't tried on it yet is pike and musky sized hooks and it may end holding them well enough, I just haven't tried. This is a great vise at an even better price! I would not hesitate to recommend it especially over some much more expensive options. For new tiers its a no brainer. I wish I would of had options like this available when I bought my first vise. I also like that it comes with extra parts. If something minor does break, I can just fix it and keep tying. No need to order a new o ring, ****, etc. I cant speak for longevity or how it will hold up over time but I also could buy several of these vises for what my big name vise cost. A black shaft / stem variant, like the first version, would be a nice option to choose from as well. I like that everything for this vise is affordable. Replacement jaws, if you ever need them, are very affordable. Additional base options wont break the bank either! You have a winner at this price point for sure! Shipping and delivery was very quick! Moonlit as company is new to me, but I plan to try your hooks and some other products in the near future! Thanks for your well thought out quality product!

Weak

After many months and literally hundreds of flies tied on this vise, I have come to the conclusion that this vise is rather weak and not worth the money. 1) It does not handle smaller hooks very well - i.e. size 18 or smaller. 2) I found it difficult to manually adjust the settings. I needed pliers to fully tighten things down and still it’s not tight enough. 3) I found the base to be much too light to handle the load of simple fly-tying tasks. I was forced to buy a heavier base. 4) The vise wobbles while I use it - unacceptable. 5) …and it’s feels cheap. I feel I wasted my $$.

Great value

This vice works extremely well for my tying needs. It performs as well as vices that are three times the price. Very satisfied. No negative comments.

Great vise

In 30+ years of tying flies, this was my first pedestal base vise. I was a little skeptical, especially when heavier hands are needed for larger (6-8) flies. But I am pleased with the pedestal stability and smoothness of the rotary function.
